Above It All By Jonathan Berman 12/6/2013 |
Above It All
Semi-Permeable at best
Spirit put to rest, left best in the hole you dug for the test
Spaced it out arms length against dark walls and silent halls
Singing out heartbeats, the invisible soldier traced, unkempt to call
In the dirt, always walking us home, stilted eyes that saw above it all
The door closes us in, the windows are clearly blind
Perfect corners for a circular mind that spins
So we sing to find a purchase in clear skies that rise
us up and out above it all.
